Why Offer Donations Or Support?

Exploring Yellowstone National Park for two weeks on foot in the backcountry and via kayak on Lake Yellowstone requires smart logistics. Doing so with portable computers and various data probes, documenting it all to use as a training aid for students and coworkers has considerable additional requirements. The scope of Carrie’s Fellowship to Yellowstone required a budget larger than the award amount–this was expected and is all in the name of a noble cause: getting kids enthused about science and using technology.

While we have the means and budget to cover the basic equipment required, there is always the potential to achieve greater efficiency, be more productive, ease workloads, create data/storage redundancy and to improve the all-important safety considerations during this sort of expedition. It is not a vacation–it is an exploration of the environment, Earth sciences and geologic processes involving data collection and observation to showcase technology and the integrating of that technology into the classroom for the benefit middle school students and educators. With a 2,400 mile round trip drive, it’s quite a journey, and donations will also help defray travel expenses.

Because the results of this project will benefit students, educators, the school and community we feel it is important to put forth the absolute best effort possible in the execution of it. That means we are welcome to outside support in the form of monetary donations or donations of needed equipment. All kind words of encouragement and any sage advice or knowledge that might be useful is also especially welcome!

How To Make A Donation

Financial Donations

Look over on the right side of the web page for the Pay Pal Donate button. It’s sandwiched between the logo for our webhost, Media Temple, and our blogroll (and is displayed on every page in the site). Just click on the button and it will take you to the Pay Pal site where you can choose an amount for your donation and submit it. It’s easy as can be and you don’t even have to have a Pay Pal account–you can make your donation with your credit, debit, or prepaid debit card if you like. It’s secure, simple, and should leave you with a warm, fuzzy feeling for helping out a good cause.

When you get to the Pay Pal donation page, if you want to use a credit or debit card, there is a link toward the bottom of the page that says “Continue” which you click on. When you finish your donation, you should be redirected back here to the OutsideWithUs.com home page. Your donation is a one-time donation, so there are no recurring charges. You can, if you so choose, donate again at a later time by visiting this site and clicking on the “Donate” button found on any page.

Equipment Donations

Take a look at our equipment list in the final section at the bottom of this page. If you should happen to have any of the items listed and wish to donate it, send us an email and let us know. You can do so by visiting our contact page. Perhaps you would like to purchase a piece of gear or equipment and donate it because you know where you can get a good deal on one–again, all you need to do is contact us and let us know. We’ll email you our mailing address so you can ship it to us. If you are in the OKC metro/Edmond area we can arrange to pick it up.

Some of our equipment needs are of a general nature, however some are very specific requirements. If you have questions or would like clarification on some item, feel free to drop us line. We love to hear from folks!
